DANI Awards: Celebrating NI's Digital Innovators

Digital innovation is disrupting old recruitment techniques across NI, so to Diamond IT we were proud supporters of the digital innovators at the 2018 DANI Awards, as they are driving new ways of engaging with customers across industries.

In 2018, digital is everything.

We share our inner thoughts in fewer than 280 characters, visit far off countries as we immerse in Virtual Reality, and entertain ourselves with 30 second cat videos. The line between what we do in the digital world and what we do “in real life” has all but disappeared.

For recruitment businesses, this means our customers – candidates and employers – are sometimes speaking completely different languages.

Candidates are actively searching for jobs on 6-inch screens or passively waiting for a targeted recommendation from LinkedIn, where they can simply share their profile to apply. Meanwhile, some employers are still paying thousands for two column wide adverts in newspapers while requiring hand delivered paper application forms.

The expectations on how we engage with stakeholders are changing, which is why Diamond IT were proud supporters of the 2018 DANI Awards, the premier awards celebrating digital advertising and innovation in Northern Ireland, held on 13 April at the Whitla Hall in Queen's University Belfast.

Across our business we’re seeing how the recruitment process is being completely reshaped by the new demands of a digitised world. Face-to-face meetings have been replaced with Skype interviews. CVs are making way for online portfolios and repositories. Paper based processes are being abandoned for digital applicant tracking systems where candidates seamlessly move from initial application, to interview, to payroll.

That need for seamless engagement from digital to face-to-face has seen Diamond and our parent company Staffline invest over £2m in new digital technology to promote candidate attraction and improve the customer experience. Not because we want extra bells and whistles – because in today’s market we need it.

Clients and candidates today expect that seamless transition from application to starting the job on Day 1, meaning digital applicant tracking systems, intuitive online applications, automated interview scheduling, artificial intelligence – these are all new standards in the recruitment market.

Digital is changing how we engage with our candidates because digital is still changing the world, which is why Diamond IT were delighted to celebrate and recognise Northern Ireland’s digital innovators at the DANI Awards.
